Case studies focus on the parts clients rarely see: constraints, process, handover and making it buildable.

Cantilevered Help Desk

Challenge: Turn an unsupported cantilevered feature into a strong, buildable desk. I developed an internal CNC-cut MDF structure that carried the load through the full unit while keeping all fixings hidden from the finished face.

Sculptural Display Forms

Challenge: Translate fluid, AI-generated forms into shapes that could actually be fabricated. I modelled, visualised and tested the curves using flexible MDF, then developed the supporting profiles required to reproduce them accurately in the workshop.

Sensor-Driven Interactive Book

Challenge: Create a physical book that could trigger changing digital content as its pages turned. I designed and 3D printed the book structure, page-edge details and internal joints while coordinating space for magnets, sensors and supporting technology.

13-Metre Modular Event Bar

Challenge: Develop a large event bar that could be transported, reconfigured and installed with minimal tools. I designed a modular system of hook-on and bolt-on components, allowing different configurations to be assembled using a single Allen key.

Freestanding Summer Activation Arch

Challenge: Make an outdoor branded arch quick to fabricate, stable and easy to install. I produced the visuals and technical design, CNC-machined the structure and moulding details, and incorporated concealed access for ballast weights.

14' High Projection Mapped Set Wall

Challenge: Build a tall scenic wall with enough accuracy and stability for projection-mapped content. I developed the technical design, CNC-cut components and fabricated the structure before managing its assembly and installation on site.

Adjustable Modular Desk System

Challenge: Create three mobile desks that could support multiple layouts while remaining stable in use. I developed electronically adjustable legs, a bespoke braking system and integrated lighting through prototyping, CNC production and physical testing.

Bespoke Library

Challenge: Design and install fitted storage across two different walls while maintaining one consistent architectural style. I managed the complete process—from visuals and technical development to CNC programming, fabrication, finishing and installation.

Tangible Table

Challenge: Integrate a height-adjustable touchscreen, computer hardware and lighting into one clean, easily assembled table. I developed an internal skeleton that separated the moving and stationary components, housed the PC and supported the fully laminated exterior. Integrated LED strips provided subtle edge and floor lighting, while ten 3D-printed pucks allowed users to interact with the digital content.

Design / Fabrication / Delivery

Direct collaboration with a designer who understands how creative projects get built.

I’m Ziggy, the person behind MakeCAD. I work across visualisation, CAD, technical drawings, CNC programming, prototyping and hands-on fabrication, as well as coordinating work in the workshop and on site. Depending on the project, I can support one specific stage or take responsibility for the complete process—bringing practical thinking and clear communication throughout.
