Freestanding Summer Arch

3d Visuals

Created as an outdoor signage feature for a Malfy summer pop-up, this freestanding arch combined CNC-cut MDF construction with Dibond lettering.

I produced the initial visuals and developed the complete technical design before CNC-cutting and building the structure myself. To streamline fabrication, I machined the decorative moulding details directly into the 18mm MDF using a roundover cutter in the CNC. This avoided assembling separate moulding components and saved a significant amount of workshop time.

Because the arch was intended for outdoor use, stability was considered from the beginning. Concealed access doors at the rear allowed stage weights to be placed inside the structure, keeping the finished installation secure without affecting its appearance.

This was a design-led fabrication project taken from visualisation and technical development through CNC production and final assembly.
